Blamog - Laio. Review.

I finally have a worthy successor to 2015's Svmma Fide, which I have on CD on my shelf.
The new Balmog release is what The Satanist was for Behemoth – a completely new beginning. From the very first notes, we experience Black Metal of the highest caliber. The sound is crystalline and very organic, allowing all the instruments to be heard perfectly. Guitarists Balc and Dorl Mathos have recorded masterful progressive riffs, drummer Virus deserves a medal, providing the best-sounding drums since 2015. Another instrument that complements the whole package is the superb vocals – Balc has recorded his best vocals since Svmma Fide. The album has a strong rock feel, which is a huge strength of this album. This is what's missing from today's Black Metal – a rock edge, some artists have forgotten where metal music in general comes from. I listen to Laio on loop, alternating with the latest works by Teitanblood, Devilpriest, and Behemoth. Balmog's album is a candidate for the album of the first half of 2025 in the Black Metal category. I recommend listening to every Black Metal fan. This review was based on a Bandcamp code provided by the Band and has no influence on my subjective final rating.
